Bangladesh Cricket Board has released the final schedule of BBPL 2022, the eighth edition of Bangladesh Premier League. The event will start from January 21. Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is one of the most popular T20 cricket tournament after IPL. The franchises have already teamed up with cricketers of their choice from the draft ahead of the tournament. This year’s BPL will begin on January 21 and end on February 18. Now the Bangladeshi cricket fans are just waiting for the tournament to kick off.
Venues
The possible schedule of BPL has also been determined. There will be two matches on everyday, one during the day and the other at night. 6 teams will face each other twice. Three venues at Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet will host 34 matches. However, all the qualifying round matches will be played in Dhaka. In total, Dhaka will anchor 20 matches, while Chattogram and Sylhet will host 8 and 6 matches respectively.
Match Time
The first match of the day will begin at 1.30 pm while the second will start at 6 pm. On Friday, the first match of the day will commence at 2 pm and the second match at 7 pm. Chattogram Challengers and Fortune Barisal will face each other in the first match on the opening day of the tournament. Khulna Tigers will fight against Dhaka in the second match on the same day.
New Rules
According to new rules by BCB, each team will play a maximum of three foreign players in a match. The minimum number of overseas players a franchise can sign is 3 and the maximum number is 8. The players’ draft took place on December 27, 2021.
Exclusions
The defending champions Rajshahi Royals is not taking part in this 2022 season of BPL. Also, Rangpur Rangers will not play in this edition.
