VIVO IPL 2022: List of Retained and Released Players

This time the Indian Premier League VIVO (IPL) 2022 will last for about two months. Two new teams based in Lucknow and Ahmedabad has joined this IPL. As a result, the depth of the 15th IPL has increased. The VIVO IPL 2022: retained and released list of players of each franchise has been finalized ahead of the grand event. And we have got to know who stayed in which team before the IPL auction.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Kolkata Knight Riders have dropped defending captain Eoin Morgan, Shakib Al Hasan and Indian batter Shubman Gill. While the team retain Caribbean all-rounders Andre Russell (12 crore), Varun Chakravarthy, (8 crore), Venkatesh Iyer (8 crore) and Sunil Narine (8 crore). Not surprisingly, they have Rs 48 crore in their hands in the auction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Royal Challengers Bengaluru retain Indian captain (ODI & Test) Virat Kohli, Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj. The franchise kept Kohli at Rs 15 crore, Maxwell for Rs 11 crore and Siraj for Rs 7 crore. RCB kept only three players even after having a chance to accommodate four people. That is, they have Rs 57 crore in their balance purse for the auction.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Mumbai Indians, however, have held 4 people. India’s new T20 captain Rohit Sharma, pacer Jasprit Bumrah, batter Suryakumar Yadav and Caribbean all-rounder Kieron Pollard remained in the squad. They will come to the auction with Rs 48 crore. As expected, Rohit’s value stands at Rs 16 crore. In addition, the franchise has spent Rs 12 crore for Bumrah, Rs 8 crore for Suryakumar and Rs 6 crore for Polard.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Sunrisers Hyderabad have kept 3 people. Captain Kane Williamson is staying. The party is willing to spend Rs 14 crore for him. Also, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik remained in the team. Both of them stayed at Rs 4 crore. It has become certain that David Warner will not be in Hyderabad. Surprisingly, Hyderabad did not keep Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. As a result, Hyderabad will hold a handsome Rs 68 crore in the auction.

Punjab Kings (PK)

Punjab Kings have kept only two people. Of them, Mayank Agarwal remained in the team for Rs 12 crore and Arshdeep Singh for Rs 4 crore. Preity Zinta’s team has freed Indian pacer Mohammed Shami. So, Punjab will hold an ample amount of Rs 72 crore in their balance purse.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Defending champion Chennai Super Kings are retaining Mahendra Singh Dhoni which the franchise had confirmed earlier at the end of the recent past season. Alongside, two Indian stars Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja and English all-rounder Moeen Ali will accompany MS Dhoni in the retention list. CSK kept Dhoni for Rs 12 crore. Whereas, Jadeja gets more than Dhoni! 16 crore. Chennai is spending Rs 8 crore for Moeen and Rs 6 crore for Ruturaj. Much to the dismay of CSK fans, Proteas star Faf du Plessis, Indian star Suresh Raina and Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo dropped from the team. However, CSK have Rs 48 crore for the auction.

Delhi Capitals (DC)

As usual, Delhi Capitals have held Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant (Rs 16 crore), spinner Axar Patel (Rs 9 crore), opener Prithvi Shaw (Rs 7.5 crore), Anrich Nortje (Rs 6.5 crore). On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada have been dropped for the time being. In the event, DC have Rs 48 crore to spend in the auction.

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Rajasthan Royals retain Sanju Samson (Rs 14 crore), Jos Buttler (Rs 10 crore) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (Rs 4 crore). Yet, they will have Rs 62 crore in their hands at the auction.

Now, that the VIVO IPL 2022: retained and released players list has been finalized, we can expect the player auction will take place soon.
