End match moment, Liverpool vs Leicester

Liverpool missed the chance to close the points gap with Manchester City as the Reds lose to Leicester. The Reds did not win at the Leicester City ground in the English Premier League on Tuesday night. Leicester beat the Reds 1-0 which is Liverpool’s second loss this season.

Liverpool got a penalty in the 16th minute of the match. Much to the dismay of the Liverpool fans, Mohammed Salah‘s shot was blocked by Danish Kasper Schmeichel, the goalkeeper for Premier League club Leicester City. Before this game, the Reds never missed a penalty in the last four years. However, the match ended in a draw in the first half. Liverpool got a chance to score again after the break. This time Sadio Mané blew it over.

It was a poor day for Liverpool. Klopp‘s team, which occupied the ball 63 per cent of the time, had only four of their 21 shots on target. On the contrary, just one of the 6 shots of Leicester at home ground was on the targets, and that went into the net.

Leicester City scored the only goal in the match when one hour of play had elapsed. It was Ademola Lookman who netted the ball to take the team forward. Liverpool could not find the equalizer for the rest of the time. As a result, Jürgen Klopp’s side left the field with his second loss of the season.

Due to this defeat, the disciples of Jurgen Klopp have fallen a little behind Manchester City at the top of the points table. Their total from 19 matches is 41 points. Man City topped the list with 47 points from the same number of matches. While both Liverpool and Chelsea have same number of points, the Reds hold the second place in the points table on goal difference. Leicester City are ninth with 25 points from 18 matches.
